Business case

A global eye health innovations client, with a functionally diverse workforce and complex activities, wanted to track effort and time spent daily by resources in the research and development team. It needed to better manage its people, with an exact view of resource utilization to guide R&D efforts. 

Current time tracking efforts were being done on an outdated tool which was not supporting the growing portfolio. Since the client was already using Planisware for PPM, they were looking for a Planisware expert to explore and expand the time carding module. 

Our Solution

After a detailed analysis of client needs, i2e extended the native timecard module in Planisware with the following updates

  • Daily hour tracking controls Users can lock time entries across project activities and scheduled leaves, ensuring accuracy in daily reporting.
  • Flexible data entry Time entries can be edited or updated within a defined window, while locked records maintain historical integrity.
  • Detailed input capture The module records time against projects, programs, and resources, with status indicators for saved and submitted entries.
  • Automated email alerts Users receive reminders for missed time entries.
  • Non-compliance notifications Resource managers are alerted when team members fail to log hours.

SharePoint Integration for Reporting via Power BI
i2e enabled integration with SharePoint to support reporting needs:

  • Export functionality Timesheet data from Planisware can be exported to SharePoint.
  • Power BI connectivity The exported data is connected to Power BI to generate comprehensive reports for leadership, enabling insights into resource compliance and time allocation across the portfolio.
